Latest News:

04/01/08: Okay, quite for a while due to holidays and exams but the site is now back up and running.  The January transfer window is here and Wavertree are not exemptfrom the rumour mill. With the disappearance of some faces through the season, most notably the DeFranq brothers, the club had a difficult november.  Sothern and Williams both missed games with injury, and the return of former stalwart Sutton was short-lived.
The Academy treadmill continues to produce and it looks like Scowy has another Gem, and there are rumours of a return for Leon from Liobians, and the news of a return for prodical son Josh Birch has Barry Salivating and the possibility of a league challenge looking a little more realisitic.  Any more rumours? email them in and well get them on.

25/09/07:Guy De Francq, Ian Finney and Robbie Williams all unavailable for Saturday's visit of Hope Park. Dave Osbourne and Martin Wray back available after missing last week, while Pete McPartland is an injury doubt for the Two's

14/08/07: The club's AGM was held at Sandown Lane on Tuesday 14th August.  Go to the members page for a full rundown of the clubs officers for season 2007/08

History of the Club:

The club was founded in 1993 and was initially founded for the cricketers and friends of Wavertree C.C. to maintain their sporting activities and friendships throughout the winter months. In 1997/98 the team achieved promotion from the 5th division, swiftly followed by promotion to Division 3 in 1998/99.  The next season was one of consolidation and the team narrowly avoided relegation with a 1-1 draw last game of the season.  Promotion was soon back on the agenda though, as the team led by the new manager Barry Phythian won the Connerty Cup and only lost out for top spot after an administrative error led to the loss of 3 points.

The second division proved difficult but a fourth place finish was enough to seal promotion after a slight reshuffle of the league structure.

With the team having now achieved four promotions in five seasons there was definitely an element of survival to life in the first division.  But improvements did happen, culminating in a top half finish in 2004/05 season and victory in the Marlborough Trophy.

On the back of this success a second team was started in season 2005/06 which was to compete in the 5th Division.  The first team also reached the final of the Senior Shield this year, only to lose out to Old Bootlians 3-1, having led 1-0 with ten minutes to go.

2006/07 season proved very hard for both sides with a lot of changes in personell, However with some good new young players at the club hopes are high for another successfull chapter in the History of Wavertree West Derby Old Boys.

Founder members still associated with the club are Kevin Burns, Graeme Gardner, Chris Moore, Neil Scowcroft and Paul Woodyatt
